GTPS Health and Physical Education
The district believes that student's physical and mental health is of primary importance for a happy and healthy childhood - and for development of lifelong healthy habits. Health and physical activity are also important prerequisites to learning in all subject areas.
Our comprehensive curriculum includes fitness, motor skills, team sports, group games, social emotional learning, mindfulness, movement, character education, goal setting, health careers, nutrition, healthy relationships, accident prevention, summer safety, and preventing risky decisions.
The physical, social, and emotional well being of each child in our schools is of the highest importance to the staff, and we are committed to excellence in health and physical education in order to serve our community.
Opt Out Provision
Any Child whose parent or guardian presents to the school a signed statement that any part of instruction in health, family life, or sex education is in conflict with their conscious or sincerely held moral or religious beliefs may elect to opt their student out of instruction for those topics.
